Tetris Effect is probably the glow-up of the century with how it has transformed the classic puzzle game into something extraterrestrial-looking. It has enhanced the gaming experience with stunning visual graphics and phenomenal background music, two elements that are already entertaining on their own. The mechanics are still the same, but the gameplay is made more intense and interesting with new power-ups and cool game boosters. 

Same old mechanics, cool new effects

Fans of Tetris games will surely have a field day with Tetris Effect because the feeling you get when playing this game is otherworldy. The effects and overall visuals of the game will probably leave you speechless and even a little distracted during the gameplay. Still, what’s good about it is that it still follows the same game mechanics. Players will continue to enjoy this well-loved block game, only with the addition of dancing lights in the background, musical beats when changing the blocks’ position, and exciting boosters that will help you massively in clearing the levels. 

There are over 30 challenging stages in Tetris Effect, and they are all really unique from each other. In fact, it actually feels like visiting a whole other dimension or world. The effects in the background also react to your moves and progress in Tetris. For instance, in some levels, clearing thick layers of blocks will cause bright and explosive sparks on your screen.

The music playing in the background is also phenomenal and are actually tunes that you would consider adding in your playlist. Tetris Effect plays the music that you can eventually sing and dance along with after a few minutes of playing. The lively beat and melody also keep the stages entertaining, especially with Tetris’ repetitive gameplay. It helps players keep up with the pace of the game in a way, as the songs are able to set the mood and vibe of the game. The cool effects may be a little distracting, but they no doubt make Tetris more enjoyable. 

Getting in the Zone

In Tetris Effect, there is a thing we call the Zone. This is vastly different from the usual boosters that Teris has in its other games, like being able to swap Tetris blocks with the one in your queue.  Of course, you can still enjoy those powerups in the game, but the Zone is definitely different from all of them. Players will have to accumulate enough points in order to use this. Once activated, players will enter the Zone where they can stack up as many blocks as possible within a few seconds. Once the board is full of blocks, it will explode and clear it all out, leaving you with an empty grid to once more fill in. The Zone is a blessing for those who are already reaching a dead-end in the game as it gives you the chance to go back to square 1 without losing any points.

Incredibly addicting

As if the original Tetris isn’t addicting enough, Tetris Effect is just as hard to leave once you have started. The game is fun and trippy, but no less challenging. It is still very much capable of giving you a beating as the levels increase in difficulty. Tetris Effect has a lot of new and exciting things offer so you should definitely check it out.
